2022 Asia Teaching Artist (TA) Exchange Workshop and Joint Projects (on Socially Engaged Arts Education) 

In an aim to boost exchange among arts education practitioners in Korea and Asia, the Korea Arts and Culture Education Service (KACES) continues to offer programs that emphasize the importance and need for socially engaged arts education activities, and promote sustainable exchange among intermediaries.

Following the 2021 Asia Teaching Artist (TA) Exchange Workshop, KACES is putting together the 2022 Asia Teaching Artist (TA) Exchange Workshop and Joint Projects on Socially Engaged Arts Education, designed for literature study and research on relevant and resonant topics for the Asian region, and putting the outcomes into action through group projects following the workshop. The purpose of this year’s workshop and joint projects is to promote a sustainable network  of arts education practitioners in Asia for vibrant and continuous exchanges, and to revisit the definition and role of teaching artists in the region.

    - Field-based arts practitioners, teaching artists, artists and researchers living and working in Korea (Republic of) and Asia who are keen on exploring issues in the region and putting them into actions
 
 ㅇ Period: May 16 (Mon.) ~ Nov. 14 (Mon.), 2022

 (Workshop/Interim Results Presentation/Online BYOB/Group Projects/Final Presentation)

 ㅇ Workshop Format: Call for applications online for individuals (teams) and a working group, 100% online participation.

 ㅇ Number of Participants: Approx. 30 from Southeast/Northeast Asia

 ㅇ Language: English* 
     *Participants should be able to communicate in English in group discussions and/or one-on-one conversations.

 ㅇ Background and Purpose of Workshop
    • It is a workshop with group projects that sheds light on timely and appropriate topics featuring arts and cultural education in Asia and project implementation plans.

    • It serves as a venue to foster a solid and sustainable network of TAs in Asia as advocates of arts education, and to explore the future direction and role of arts education in Asia.

– Timeliness and relevance of a workshop topic and capabilities of developing it into a joint project

- Soundness and cost efficiency of project budget 

 ㅇ Evaluation process: The application and supporting materials to be reviewed, followed by online interview if necessary (to be notified individually)
  ㅇ Announcement: May 5 (Thu.), 2022 (to be notified individually)
  ※ Please note that the schedule and details may be subject to change.

□ Areas of Support
  ㅇ (Paid) Zoom ID and link for communication in the workshop and group projects
  ㅇ Expenses for engaging in various activities such as research, translation, access to copyright materials, etc. (KRW 10 mil. in total – KRW 5 mil. each for workshop and group projects, respectively)
  ㅇ Meeting with international experts (two sessions) invited for the workshop and group projects for mutual learning opportunities for online BYOB working groups
  ㅇ PDF and printed materials (archiving materials to be produced and distributed)
